Camping Trip

This years Campout was great. My hats off to all those who came and joined us.   We had 20 tents in our village with over 60 people in attendance.  Click this here to see the pictures

Friday (DAY ONE)
started off with members arriving early to pitch their tents and enjoy the day.  Some of us due to unforeseen events arrived late as nite was befalling the campsite.  But luckily we were prepared with McGyvers huge spot light, which lighted almost the entire area.  The few remaining tents were put up and the village was complete.  Everyone began visiting, eating and drinking.  Many new comers scurried for clothing as the nites temperature dipped to a chilling degree.  As tradition befalls the campsite Friday nites are reserved for all those who want to get loose, some stay up till the wee hours of day break.  You can hear the echoes of the laughter spread throughout the campsite.

Saturday (DAY TWO)
As one arose from the early morning rays,  you could not help but feel the suns warmth all around you.  The smell of coffee and breakfast being cooked over an open fire.  People walking about getting reacquainted. Michelle and Frank making their rounds welcoming the new faces.   The weather faired that afternoon with some clouds and a few gusts of wind.  The kids however took total advantage of the mid morning hay ride and boarded the tractor pulled platform for a quick ride about the campgrounds.  Some took to the pavilion where arts and crafts were being held, while others enjoyed a quick game of miniature golf.  As the afternoon set on the campsite, it was the adults turn at game play.  A volleyball match was formed.  The sides were even with each side having 8 players. It took a while for all to get coordinated with the playing field and the amount of players on the field.  But Team A succeeded in taking Game 1 with the scores being fairly even.   As the sides were switched Team B was fierce with determination to whoop some butt.  But with the ace serves by Anthony of Team A,  he brought the team to win the second game. Team B was defeated once more.   Now it was the kids turn at tug a war, followed by 3 sack races. Back at the campsite the adults were engaging a good game of dominoes.  As the evening settled in, everyone once again was just chillin kickin back a few brews.  The laughter again could be heard from multiple zones as Shrek (RAY) made his patrol from the north end of camp to the south end.

Sunday (DAY THREE)
As the morning hit,  many were saddened that they had to leave.  The ritual began for those who had to repack and take down their tents.  Those who were staying the extra day however, looked on with sadness as tent by tent went down.  The village was left with only 7 tents out of twenty.  But the festivities just kept going ..  as the cookouts and food just keep filling the air.  That evening a large bon fire was made and everyone gathered about to stare and gaze at the 2 foot tower of flame.  Others played a quick game of dominoes while the kids roasted marshmallows about the fire.

Monday ( DAY FOUR)
Many arose early as they settled early for the evening the nite before.  This time it was our turn to begin to break down camp.  You could sense the feeling that everyone had had a good time but once again it was time to return home.  The extra day did serve a great added benefit as most people discovered.  One could almost walk away with a greater sense of appreciation for the weekend and all that happened.  As the group banner came down marking the end of yet another campout.  We look forward to next year with more friends and family joining us.
